Hi, I'm Lucca Wang.
I am a software engineer with a background in nonprofit communications and visual art.
After graduating with 3 undergraduate degrees in journalism and mass communication and visual art in 5 years, I started a career in the nonprofit sector. As a professional communicator, I used my expertise to help underprivileged people in communities locally, statewide, and nationally.
While my former career was rewarding, I found myself increasingly diving into technology, especially surrounding websites, databases, and emails. I transitioned into software engineering, because I enjoy software development and want to use my problem solving skills to build meaningful products.
I am excited for this new chapter of my journey, and I look forward to continue learning and expanding my skills!

Projects:
PetPlanner
PetPlanner is a fullstack web app that allows pet owners to centralize their pets' information, including bio data, specialists like vets, sitters, and groomers, and events like annual checkups, medicine administration, walks, and nail trims.
I was really focused on building a full stack web app with a Postgres database after my data model and making the front and back work together while incorporating APIs.
Technologies Used: Python, Flask, Javascript, React, HTML, CSS & flexbox, PostgreSQL, SQL, SQLAlchemy, Jinja2, Bootstrap, Passlib and Argon2, datasets through research, Cloudinary API, and Full Calendar API.

Tell Me Where To Eat
Tell Me Where To Eat is a fullstack web app that provides a solution to psychological analysis paralysis and simplifying dinner decision making with a click of a button.
This is a full stack web app that's focused on the backend logic but does have a lot of CSS/HTML action; I really dug into accessibility while building this app - and that includes skip navigation, ARIA, large font size, high color contrast, and responsiveness, with a major emphasis on simplification and consistency.
Technologies Used: Python, Flask, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Google Font API, datasets through research - and looking to add more as I build out this project further.

I've gained valuable experience in collaborating, planning, project management, scrum, sprints, and goal setting plus time estimation while building this app.
Technologies Used: Python, CSS, DALL·E, Flask, HTML, JavaScript, Jinja2, Markdown, payment processing API, Passlib and Argon2, PostgreSQL, React, weather API.
